The wonderful Balchik Botanical Garden consists of ten hectares surrounding the small summer palace of the Romanian Queen Marie. (The area was part of Romania between 1913 and 1940). The pretty villa has the unusual addition of a minaret, which have been built for the Turkish Queen. In the gardens therea are about 3000 plant species of which over 250 cacti. This astonishing collection of cacti makes the collection of Balchik Garden Europe's second most important collection.
